Local Waters

The Thames at Gravesend is a river of contrasts. Busy commercial waterway. Historic entrance to London. Sheltered backwaters. Gateway to the sea.

Dinghy destinations include Greenhithe for a swift pint at the Pier Hotel, or down to Holehaven or the Medway. But we have one or two more adventurous dinghy owners who like to go much further afield.

For the cruisers a typical weekend trip is to one of the creeks on the River Medway; longer trips may involve the rivers and creeks of the East Coast, or a trip to France or Holland, or down-channel to Brittany or Cornwall. But cruisers have voyaged much further from GSC!

There are some organised cruises, such as "Creek Week" - exploring the creeks of the Medway and the East Coast. Groups of members also arrange cruises in company - for example to Holland.
